Become an RBF Friend!

Our RBF Friends represent the Railway Benefit Fund in stations, depots and offices across the country, enabling us as a small charity to extend our reach across the UK. From Station Assistants to Signallers, and Ticket Retailers to Train Drivers – anyone working in the rail industry can become an RBF Friend and do their bit for the industry they love. This voluntary role has one main focus – to help raise awareness of RBF and our services in the rail industry.

Our new Check in and Chat service provides retired railway employees and their families with the opportunity to have a weekly chat to feel connected and share the joy of a good conversation. Our research with railway pensioners has highlighted that retirement can often be isolating, especially with many community and railway groups closing down following the pandemic.

We have almost 90 charity shops across the UK that are run with volunteers. As a volunteer you can help to create eye-catching window displays and even give up-cycling a go. Volunteering in our shops is easy and flexible. Most shops just ask you to do a regular few hours per week. Your availability is something we will discuss once you've applied.
Community Connector for Carers UK

Carers UK is the leading national charity for unpaid carers. We support, advocate for, champion and connect carers across the UK, so that no one has to care alone. As a volunteer, we will help you to use your skills to help carers get the support and guidance they need. A Community Connector helps Carers UK connect with carers and promote awareness of caring by distributing publicity material – such as leaflets and posters – within local communities.

Team Day with Amelia Trust Farm

Charity: Amelia Trust Farm
Book a team volunteering day with Amelia Trust Farm, a small charity that has been established for over 30 years. With a history of providing a safe and welcoming space for the local community, our aim is to encourage everyone to enjoy the benefits of spending time in nature. A full day of tasks around the Farm that might include maintaining our semi-ancient woodland, repairing animal paddocks, painting, or working on a project.
Team Day with Postcode Gardener
