Task Type: Local Mentoring
Charity: Working Options
Share you own career journey along with any curveballs along the way, share top tips with young people for moving from the world of education into the world of work, share employer expectations, provide an insight into the variety of roles available in the sector the volunteer works in, be willing to answer questions posed by the young people.
Volunteer Reading Coach
Task Type: Mentoring (Remote)
Charity: Read Easy
Read Easy is a national charity which provides free, confidential, one-to-one reading coaching to the millions of adults in the UK who can’t read at all or who struggle to read. For most roles, Read Easy does not insist on any particular set of skills, but looks for enthusiasm, commitment and a willingness to learn.
Online Tutor for Success4All
Task Type: Mentoring (Remote)
Charity: Success4All
As an Online Tutor-Befriender, you will be working from home and using video-conferencing and a variety of online remote learning tools to support the young people who attend Success4All's Learning Hubs. The online support you provide will involve delivering tuition in 6-week blocks, whereby you’ll either work with 1 or 2 children from the same year group. Once matched with a tutee, you will log on at the same time once a week to deliver 1 hour of tuition.
Pet Care for The Cinnamon Trust
Task Type: Supporting Animals
Charity: The Cinnamon Trust
The Cinnamon Trust is a charity for the elderly, the terminally ill and their pets. They are always looking for short-term dog walkers and fosterers across the whole of the UK who would be prepared to look after a pet when their owner is in hospital. If you would like to become a fosterer, please register as a volunteer.
Team Day with Oxford City Farm
Task Type: Team Mission
Charity: Oxford City Farm
Book a team volunteering day with Oxford City Farm, a community-led charity in the heart of East Oxford, growing food and community. They provide valued opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to engage with farming and food production, animals, nature and each other. The team could be helping with a variety of tasks including planting seeds and bulbs, animal care and feeding, painting fences and weeding.
Team Day with Restore
Task Type: Team Mission
Charity: Restore
Restore is one of the most well-established and highly-regarded community rehabilitation services in the UK. A specialist organisation in Oxfordshire offering employment support to people with mental ill health. Activities include gardening (weeding, planting/harvesting, cutting back etc) and general maintenance of the area- specifics depend on the seasons and what needs doing on the day as identified by the site coordinator.
