Caritas Salford

About the charity:
Caritas work alongside people from across Greater Manchester and Lancashire to help them transform their lives with dignity.
Volunteering activity:
Teams arrive at 9:30 for a morning briefing before taking on roles like kitchen support, sorting donations, staffing the welcome desk or shop, and joining activities. Volunteers can socialise over lunch and fully participate in the 1 pm session. The day ends at 3 pm with a debrief and Q&A.

Volunteering activity:
Volunteer at our community allotment, a peaceful space growing organic vegetables for the neighbouring community pantry. Teams help maintain the site, support vegetable growing, and make compost. The allotment also hosts wellbeing groups and events, making it a hands-on, rewarding opportunity to contribute to both food provision and community wellbeing.
Manchester South Central Foodbank
Where: Wesley Centre, Royce Road, M15 5BP
Days: Tuesday & Thursday

About the charity:
Bridging the Gap (Manchester) is a registered Charity that operates Manchester South Central Foodbank.
Volunteering activity:
Kick off with a warehouse tour in Hulme to see how your efforts support the community. Teams then race the clock in a fun “Supermarket Sweep,” collecting essential items and earning points. This energetic, hands-on challenge builds teamwork while raising food and funds, with a trophy for the winning team.
Manchester South Central Foodbank

About the charity:
Bridging the Gap (Manchester) is a registered Charity that operates Manchester South Central Foodbank.
Volunteering activity:
Join a supermarket collection to engage with customers, offer advice, and raise awareness about the food bank. Receive and thank donors, explain where contributions go, and help sort the food for delivery. A hands-on, community-focused activity that combines public engagement with practical support for those in need.
The Bread and Butter Thing
Where: Unit 4, Littlers Point, Trafford Park, Stretford, Manchester M17 ILT

About the charity:
Our award-winning project is created using high quality surplus food that would otherwise go to waste. We build bridges out of food deserts, bringing nutritious, affordable food to the centre of the UK’s most deprived communities and nourish them.
Volunteering activity:
Volunteer at our food redistribution warehouses in Durham, Stoke, or Manchester. Help with practical warehouse tasks, including date-checking, sorting, and consolidating stock. A hands-on way to support food distribution, reduce waste, and make a meaningful impact in local communities.
Urban Diggers (MUD)

About the charity:
The MUD team make beautiful gardens in urban spaces, where people grow, cook and eat delicious, healthy food together. These gardens are hubs for thriving, connected communities, havens for nature, and visions of a fair and sustainable alternative way to supply the food we need to be part of a fairer food system.
Volunteering activity:
Volunteer in our gardens with seasonal, hands-on activities focused on gardening and DIY. Tasks may include planting, landscaping, or supporting site development projects such as building greenhouses or laying pathways. A practical, engaging way to contribute to the upkeep and improvement of our outdoor spaces throughout the year.
Sow The City

About the charity:
The Sow The City helps create green spaces in urban places. They aim to empower communities to create green spaces in urban places.
Volunteering activity:
Join our urban greening projects to showcase your company’s commitment to sustainability. Teams can take part in activities like tree planting, building raised beds, and planting seedlings. These hands-on days boost team bonding, support employee wellbeing, and demonstrate social responsibility while making a tangible, positive impact on the community.
Smart Works Greater Manchester

About the charity:
We help unemployed women to get the coaching, clothing and confidence they need to secure employment and change the trajectory of their lives.
Volunteering activity:
Support our operations by organising stock, labelling items, and arranging them by size. Help replenish rails to keep everything neat and accessible. A simple yet impactful way to contribute, ensuring a smooth-running space and making it easier for everyone to find what they need.
Community Grocery
Where: Message Community Hub, Harper Rd, Sharston Industrial Area, Wythenshawe, Manchester M22 4RG

About the charity:
The Message Community Grocery is a Manchester based charity helping the community access low cost weekly shops and reduce food waste.
Volunteering activity:
Volunteers are split between the Distribution Centre and Community Grocery Store. At the centre, tasks include decanting, sorting, and labelling stock. In the store, volunteers help stock shelves, serve members, and sort deliveries. Teams are spread across these areas, providing a practical, hands-on way to support daily operations.
Mersey Rivers Trust
Where: Manchester
Days: Monday - Friday

About the charity:
The Mersey Rivers Trust is a charity working in partnership with all those interested in improving our local rivers and waterways. As a member of the national Rivers Trust movement, it is the Rivers Trust for the River Mersey and its catchment.
Volunteering activity:
We handle all logistics, including location, risk assessments, PPE, and equipment. Volunteers help clean the river environment while walking and talking to learn about the river, its challenges, and ongoing conservation efforts. A practical, educational experience combining hands-on action with environmental awareness and context.
Cards for Bravery
Where: In Office

About the charity:
Cards for Bravery is a charity dedicated to brightening the days of hospitalised and seriously ill children mainly through the distribution of handmade cards. This makes a huge difference to these children through their most tough and isolating times.
Volunteering activity:
Get the team together for a crafty session to create cards for seriously ill children and help make a difference. This session will take place in the office and materials will be provided by OnHand. The cards are then sent to Cards for Bravery to be distributed to hospitals across the UK.
The Hideaway Partington

About the charity:
We're a charity and Britain's first 'Pay What You Can' play centre, helping families to learn together, have fun together and thrive together.
Volunteering activity:
Volunteer on a variety of projects, from maintaining gardens and organising pre-loved school uniforms to running the toy shop or supporting the food pantry during harvest and Christmas. A hands-on, flexible way to help the community, gain experience, and make a meaningful, practical difference throughout the year.
The Lancashire Wildlife Trust

We’re one of 47 Wildlife Trusts spread across the UK, the Isle of Man and Alderney. We’re Lancashire’s leading local wildlife charity and are dedicated to restoring and protecting wild places and bringing wildlife back to Lancashire, Greater Manchester and North Merseyside; to halt the biodiversity and climate crisis while helping more people experience the joy of nature in their daily lives.
Volunteering activity:
A Welly Workout is a full-day experience combining physical activity with conservation work at one of our reserves. Volunteers take part in hands-on environmental tasks, team-building exercises, and creative crafts—offering a fun, engaging way to get active, work together, and make a tangible impact on local nature.
Peak District National Park
Days: Tuesday & Friday

About the charity:
The Peak District is an upland area in central-northern England, at the southern end of the Pennines. Mostly in Derbyshire, it extends into Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Staffordshire, West Yorkshire and South Yorkshire.
Volunteering activity:
Swap the office for the Peak District with a PPCV day! Teams get hands-on with digging, planting, and other practical conservation tasks. Enjoy the outdoors, make a real contribution to the landscape, strengthen team bonds, and create lasting memories while having fun in one of the UK’s most beautiful National Parks.
Salford Foodbank

About the charity:
We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
Volunteering activity:
Corporate Volunteer Teams are invited to our warehouse every Wednesday to support practical tasks like sorting donations, packing food parcels, and collecting supermarket contributions. It’s a hands-on opportunity to step away from the desk, engage with the community, and see firsthand the impact of your team’s efforts.
