Become an RBF Friend!

Our RBF Friends represent the Railway Benefit Fund in stations, depots and offices across the country, enabling us as a small charity to extend our reach across the UK. From Station Assistants to Signallers, and Ticket Retailers to Train Drivers – anyone working in the rail industry can become an RBF Friend and do their bit for the industry they love. This voluntary role has one main focus – to help raise awareness of RBF and our services in the rail industry.

Our new Check in and Chat service provides retired railway employees and their families with the opportunity to have a weekly chat to feel connected and share the joy of a good conversation. Our research with railway pensioners has highlighted that retirement can often be isolating, especially with many community and railway groups closing down following the pandemic.

Cheer Point Champion for Dementia UK

Task Type: Event Support

Charity: Dementia UK

Dementia UK is a charity that provides Admiral Nurses for families affected by dementia. With the support of Dementia UK, families facing dementia know they’re not alone. Every year, hundreds of runners and cyclists take part in challenge events in aid of Dementia UK. They need volunteers to work on weekends between two and a half to five hours, with locations in London, Brighton, Newcastle, Birmingham and Cardiff.

To ensure all adopter and foster carer homes are safe and suitable, we ask our home visitor volunteers to either visit the home or carry out a virtual visit for those wanting to adopt/foster.

Pick & Pack with Little Village

Task Type: Sorting Donations

Charity: Little Village

Little Village makes a big difference to families with babies and young children living in poverty across London. Via our network of baby banks, we pass on loved goods from one family to another – clothes, toys and equipment – so that many more babies and young children have the essential things they need to thrive. Our Pick and Pack team are based in one of our lively baby banks. Together we sort, check, and prepare pre-loved items for children.

Club volunteer for Kent Association for the Blind (Sidcup)

Kent Association for the Blind supports sight-impaired people to live independent lives in Kent, Medway, Bromley and surrounding areas. They're always looking for helpers for their social groups across Kent and Bromley.
