Cana Communities

Charity: Cana Communites
Cana Communities is a not-for-profit charity working with men and women who are experiencing homelessness, addiction, imprisonment, mental health issues and other barriers that have prevented them from creating a positive life for themselves.
Work in the garden, kitchen, or lend a hand to general duties around the farm. The team will be split into groups to work alongside our community, share a reflection, a community meal and other activities throughout your day
Royal Botanic Garden

Botanic Gardens of Sydney cares for the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, The Domain Sydney, Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan and Blue Mountains Botanic Garden Mount Tomah.
Your organisation will support our friendly Horticulture team to tend to rare and exotic plants that call the Garden home.
Food Preperation

Gather the team and join us on-site for the day to volunteer your time cooking nourishing meals. Learn more about homelessness in Australia, and make a tangible impact.
Help us support people at risk of or experiencing homelessness by preparing delicious and nutritious home cooked meals using produce recovered by our charity partners at Ozharvest and SecondBite.

Foodbank is the largest hunger relief charity in Australia. We are the pantry to the charity sector, linking surplus food and groceries to people in need. Last year we sourced 92 million meals for our charity partners.

SecondBite is Australia’s largest free food rescue organisation, with operations in every state and territory, rescuing and delivering nutritious food free of charge to those in need.
Roll up your sleeves and dive into the heart of our work. Together, we'll unpack, sort, and assemble food hampers destined for distribution to food-insecure individuals across Sydney.
City Farm

Pocket City Farms empowers communities through education to improve the natural environment, tackle food insecurity and take action on climate change.
Your team will work side-by-side on real farm tasks—composting, planting seeds and seedlings, mulching, or building garden beds. Perfect for groups craving active, purpose-driven collaboration.
Community Painting

We are a large organisation that often needs retouching that we simply can’t get to with our small team and limited funding. Part of our dignity and human rights based practice includes our physical environment reflecting a cared for and nurtured space.
Your team can help us with painting walls, furniture, murals, shelves etc to assist in keeping a dignified space.
Landscaping / Gardening

Addi Road is home to 9-acres of crown land. With environmental justice at our core, we aim to keep our physical environment healthy.
Come along and plant some native plants/flowers, help regenerate soil, contribute to our community garden, learn the tools and trade behind composting, the list goes on!
City Farm

Charity: Sydney City Farm
Sydney City Farm is an urban agriculture project in Sydney Park, connecting the city with the country. The farm is a 5000 square metre site which includes a community hub and cropping area, plant nursery and orchard.
This 2.5 hour hands-on experience begins with a tour of the farm followed by supervised farm activities tailored to your group. These could include planting out cropping beds, working in the orchard, propagating plants in the nursery, weeding, harvesting food, feeding the worm farm, learning about beneficial insects or seed saving..
Community Help

Working with the community, Addi Road elevate human rights, arts & culture and sustainability.
Pack 100-150 hampers for local community services, individuals and families in need. Hampers include culturally appropriate food, sanitary products, toiletries, and other goods to assist in providing people with basic needs
Homelessness Support

Charity: Rough Edges
In the morning, the team will be led on a guided tour of Kings Cross by one of our Urban Guides. Each of our Urban Guides have a lived experience of homelessness, and share their own personal story of it as well as their journey to recovery.
Once the walk is done, you'll come to our site and hear a little about our programs: Rough Edges, Banksia Women and Urban Insight. There will be some time then to break for lunch.
After this, you will hear from the Rough Edges program manager about food safety and a brief training on how to run a BBQ in the community. This will be followed by food prep and then running the community BBQ. This is a wonderful opportunity to give back to those in need as many of our patrons are experiencing homelessness!
Food Bank

During a packing session, your team will be based on our warehouse floor, packing vital food orders that go out to our communities and schools to feed people doing it tough every day. (e.g. our community partners have ordered items from the warehouse, and volunteers go to the shelves to collect those items and then pack them on a pallet for us to deliver to the agency)
Reduce Fashion Waste

Charity: Thread Together
Our mission is simple: reduce fashion waste by donating brand new quality clothing to Australians who are doing it tough.
Our fulfillment centre in Banksmeadow is where the magic happens—it’s the heart of our operations, where we receive and distribute brand-new clothing. Volunteers play an essential role, assisting with sorting clothing by category and size and fulfilling orders by picking and packing items for distribution.

Homelessness Support

Charity: Sydney City Salvo
Surry Hills is a drop-in centre for people sleeping rough, or otherwise vulnerable. Volunteers will be involved in welcoming people in with a hot drink, preparing and serving our lunch time meal, sorting in our Op Shop or Food Pantry, or connecting with our community members over games or creative activities.
Refugee Support

Charity: Asylum Seekers Centre
The Asylum Seekers Centre is a place of welcome and support. We provide practical help for people seeking asylum in Greater Sydney and advocate for fair and humane policies for refugees and people seeking asylum.
Groups are expected to organise lunch from start to finish, prepping food, serving food and clean up. Lunches are served Tuesday-Friday and typically start around 11am and finish up before 2pm.

Save the Children Australia (SCA) is a non-governmental organization focused on improving the lives of children both in Australia and internationally
Help out de-branding, quality check of garments and sorting stock into categories.
Older Adult / Care Home Support

We have 23 residential care homes all across Sydney, and even more independent living villages.
Get involved with an activity day for the residents (or slot into one already happening) from cooking BBQ lunches, gardening projects or help at their large warehouse in Minchinbury.
Enviromental Clean-up

Charity: GSL
Greater Sydney Landcare (GSL) is a membership-based community organisation that aims to support individuals, groups and organisations who are working to protect, restore and improve the natural environment of Greater Sydney.
Clean4Shore activity which involves being on the Hawkesbury river on a barge to clean up debris. Stepping into the water can be a great way to cool off.
