Food Prep for Mändenes Hjem Breakfast Project
Task Type: Food Prep
Charity: Hjem Breakfast Project
Mändenes Hjem (The Men's Home) offers a wide range of social and healthcare services to men and women who are homeless or otherwise vulnerable. In the drug consumption room H17, volunteers serve breakfast to the house's users on both weekdays and weekends. The food provides a good start to the day and resistance to the hard life on the street. In addition, food has the special property that it works to reduce conflict and build relationships.
As a volunteer, you are responsible for preparing breakfast in the house's kitchen. You don't need to have special culinary skills, but you must want to create variety and add a certain amount of care to the food. Afterwards, breakfast is served with the support of the staff to the house's users, who often want to have a nice chat over a cup of coffee and a cheese meal.
Community Gardening for ØsterGro
Task Type: Community Gardening
Charity: ØsterGro
ØsterGro is the first rooftop farm in Denmark, established on top of the old car-auction house, Nellemannhuset, in the heart of Copenhagen's Climate Resilience Neighbourhood. They are always welcoming of an extra hand on the roof. From April to mid-December you can join them every Tuesday from 10 am to 5 pm.
They do all kinds of work in the field and it is not required to have previous experience in farming or gardening. As long as you do not mind getting dirt on your hands, you are welcome to join the volunteer days, and they also offer a delicious vegetarian lunch which can be enjoyed together. When you sign up you will get a weekly reminder email with all the volunteering activities you can get involved with.

You choose what suits you best, and one shift a week will be a huge help.
Volunteer at FødevareBanken
Task Type: Food Drop
Charity: FødevareBanken
The Food Bank fights for a world without food waste and food poverty in Denmark. As a volunteer in FødevareBanken, you are from day one involved in doing something good for others and at the same time fighting food waste! As a volunteer, your shift starts with packing the truck with surplus food from our donors together with your co-volunteer. Then you drive off to distribute the food to social organizations, such as shelters and crisis centres.
The trips take approx. 4-5 hours and you must be prepared for physical work and some lifting involved.
Recruitment & HR Support for Red Cross
Task Type: Skills-based
Charity: Red Cross Copenhagen
They receive weekly inquiries from young people who have heard about their work through various channels and would like to help. It will be your task to welcome them and ensure that they land in the right activity and get off to a good start. Sometimes there is also a need to recruit intensively for a specific activity or event.
In addition, there is an opportunity to shape the tasks and think creatively, because they need to think outside the box and try new methods in the hunt for more volunteers! Therefore, the role can also involve SoMe content management, event planning and facilitation and much more - depending on your skills and interests. You must be able to commit to volunteering 10-15 hours per month for at least 6 months.
Register to Give Blood
Task Type: Donate Blood
Charity: GivBlod
Every day many patients need donor blood to get through a critical phase in life. Not everyone can go through the eye of a needle and become a blood donor. But if you are between the ages of 17 and 65, healthy and fit and weigh at least 50 kg, then there are good chances.
In the Capital Region, there are approx. 70,000 blood donors (180,000 nationwide) – but they want to be more! It is possible to register as a classic blood donor (whole blood), as a plasma donor (plasma only) and as a stem cell donor. It is also possible to combine the different tapping methods from time to time.
