Your donations to Salvation Army family stores help fund rehabilitation programs that heal addictions, change lives and restore families. Because they do not have any resources to restore or repair donations, they are unable to accept some items due to their nature or condition. Items that are worn, stained, ripped, or broken often cannot be utilized and divert funding from their program toward disposal.

Volunteering with Operation HOPE is a great way to give back to your community and to help spread awareness about the importance of financial dignity. Every year thousands of people experience economic hardship because of natural and man-made disasters. We have opportunities to support disaster financial preparedness and recovery. Some support will likely require a minimum of 2 hours per client. It’s easy to apply to become a HOPE volunteer.
Social Calls with Citymeals on Wheels

Citymeals on Wheels has been serving homebound elderly New Yorkers since 1981. Life in the big city can be especially isolating for older people who live alone. Most Citymeals recipients have outlived friends and family; many are homebound due to health issues and often have nobody to talk with other than their meal deliverer.

Become a Food Rescuer

Charity: Food Rescue USA
Since our founding, we have provided 152 million meals and kept 183 million pounds of excess food out of landfills. Food Rescue US is now in 39 locations and constantly growing. Sign up as a Food Rescuer and find available rescues in your local area and pick one that fits your schedule. You'll then arrive at the local food donor at the date and time you selected and follow the directions outlined in the rescue information. The final step is to take the food to the social service agency.
Mentoring for iMentor
Task Type: Mentoring (Remote)
Charity: iMentor
iMentor matches every student in their partner high schools with a college-educated mentor—a personal champion to help them on their journey to college and career. You could be that champion! You will have to commit to connecting online once a week and meeting up once a month. Mentors undergo an extensive screening process before being accepted into the program.

Goodwill works to enhance people’s dignity and quality of life by strengthening their communities, eliminating their barriers to opportunity, and helping them reach their full potential through learning and the power of work.
